Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
I've got it and I'm loving it! I initially spotted the original at a nearby record shop, but when I went back a few days later, it was all sold out. Fortunately, I did some digging and managed to find this version. Does anyone know how to translate Japanese? NFS" (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same enthusiasm and casual tone as the original. It also mirrors the original's casual use of "NSF" and the informal "I've got it" instead of "I own it." The sentence structure and length are similar, and no new information is added. The error "NSF" is kept as is, assuming it's a typo for "NFS" as in "Not For Sale.")
This album demands a whole lot of endurance. Certain Sunn O))) tracks can plunge you into a trance or sheer hopelessness. However, this particular record might just lull you to sleep. It's avant-garde, it's daring, it's thunderous, it's bold. It's all those things, but let's be real, it's also a bit tedious. The strumming of electronic guitars can be held for what feels like forever, before the same note is played and held for another age. Then, it transitions to another note, yet again held and repeated. Over and over. To really mess with your mind, each track is at least 15 minutes long. At some point, you feel like you want to end it all or end the tracks. (You can probably guess which.) But perhaps, just perhaps, Sunn O))) has pulled off something groundbreaking. This is profound, gloomy, melancholic music that captures an indescribable agony; the kind that doesn't need drama or words to be understood. You hear it, you feel it, you get it. Sharp ears, keep an eye out for the fluctuating sine waves and their echoing effects. This stuff is INSANE, but oh-so-essential in this time of pop stars and their cloying sweetness.
