This double album boasts a fantastic array of organ-infused tracks, with the first disc featuring the complete TWISTIN' THE JUG (recorded on 11/28/61 with Brother Jack McDuff), including standout performances like "Satin Doll" and "Down The Line". The second LP showcases Johnny "Hammond" Smith (recorded on 6/17/60), with tracks originally from ANGEL EYES (four songs) and VELVET SOUL (two songs). Notable tracks from this session include "Blue Room", "Water Jug" and "Angel Eyes." This is a great 1977 release from Prestige/Fantasy, offering solid bass depth, crisp, full percussion, and prominent organ and horns with excellent separation throughout. My copy looks and sounds mint, with no surface noise.
