The package finally showed up, and it definitly sounds incredible, very lively. Excellent pressing, I gave it a clean beforehand and there's no surface noise or pops. Makes a big difference for such dynamic (and sometimes soft) music. Also, the artwork is really nice and the packaging is top-notch.
Packaging is spot on… But the mastering could use some work for vinyl. It's as if they skipped the compression during mastering. Dynamics are important in music, but this isn't an Atmos mix, it's meant for two speakers. Apart from that, it's a stunning album.
I'm astonished that I managed to snag this release, my pressing sounds incredible! The artwork inside is stunning, and the colors of the pressings are beautifully done, perfectly capturing the essence of the music and the characters they represent in the packaging. It's not completely silent, but I'm using headphones and the noise is so faint it's barely worth mentioning as a downside to this release. As I mentioned, the sound quality is astonishingly dynamic, possibly the best in my entire collection! I'd highly recommend this if you can find it for under $100, and even at that price, it might be worth it for a fan of the film.
It appears both CDs might be bootlegged from the online version. Evidence of this includes the lopsided booklets, the misaligned label prints, and the absent numbers on the inner circle of the CDs. Has anyone else noticed anything else?
The records look as beautiful as you'd expect from Mondo's colorful vinyl releases, but they're surprisingly thin for being 140g. The cover's also on the flimsy side when compared to other trifold jackets from them, but the artwork by Greg Ruth is truly breathtaking. The copy I got was quite noisy and needed several wet cleanings to fix most of the problems. Even so, there are still some little pops and crackles in certain parts, but it's not something that's too bothersome.
