From a musical standpoint, this album is absolutely gorgeous. I do feel the recording could use some improvement in the bass department. The packaging, however, is top-notch.
I'm at a loss as to why this hasn't been reviewed by any of you amazing folks yet! Another masterpiece from the MoV series, in my opinion. I also grabbed Cedar Waltons Eastern Rebellion from the same label a while back, and it sounded gorgeous too! This is absolutely fabulous!! and I can't figure out why it's not in high demand and sold out?! Only 750 copies "supposedly". The cover is stunning, with a hard, textured cardboard feel. It's clearly a digital artwork but it's detailed, crisp, and not overdone at all. NOT a single pop or crackle and it's gold colored!?!?!? Made in the EU, though I have no clue where exactly. Perfect value for money, with an uplifting performance from Bill, considering he was so close to the end (he passed away just 8 days later!!!!). The version of MASH is uplifting and bright, quite different from You Must Believe in Spring. I'm incredibly happy with this, and if you're a Bill Evans fan, you gotta have this! It's wonderful!
The higher notes on the piano come out all warped, but apart from that, it's fine.
Bill's performance here is absolutely fantastic, though the mix is a tad quiet, it's got plenty of punch to bring it to life 🔥 It's so personal and tender, I'm loving it!
Amazing sound quality and a gorgeous presentation. This one's a definite keeper. It's a departure from his earlier works but showcases a classic piano, bass, and drums trio sound. Bill Evans was an incredibly gifted artist, even in his later years.
