I'm really happy they're re-releasing this, I'm not typically into re-releases, I'd rather have the first pressings if possible but £500 is just insane. With any luck, the re-press and the new acoustic version will make those greedy first press sellers lower their prices. This album has never gone for more than £285, and honestly, due to how rare it is, I'd be willing to pay £250-£285 for a near mint copy. But I reckon some newer vinyl collectors have got their hands on a few copies and are trying to charge ridiculously high prices, taking advantage of Courteeners fans. It's not how vinyl collecting should be.
Absolutely thrilled to finally have this reissue in my collection, as the original has been on my wishlist forever. It surely needs a good clean right out of the box and an anti-static sleeve, as the paper sleeves included probably aren't the best for the record's care. The sound quality is alright. It's not the best in my collection, but it's far from the worst. There are still a few pops and crackles, and some tracks have a bit of harshness. But I didn't buy this for an audiophile experience, and the songs bring back wonderful memories from the past.
Blood Records have improved their packaging, so the item came with no harm to the sleeves. And just like others have mentioned - it looks fantastic! But the sound quality is really bad on this one - extremely, extremely dull to the point where it's unlistenable. Blood Records are swapping the discs for a new batch from a different factory - now out March 2023.
The audio quality on this is absolutely amazing! It's a truly top-notch piece for any collection.
St. Jude is the first studio album by English rock band the Courteeners, dropped on 7 April 2008 via Polydor Records. The Courteeners stand out as one of the finest modern bands hailing from Manchester, clearly drawing inspiration from Oasis and The Stone Roses, which you can definitely pick up on in this record. I reckon that the singles 'What Took You So Long?' and 'Not Nineteen Forever', along with 'Please Don't' are the standout tracks on this incredibly strong and well-crafted debut.
