While not released until 1961, all but one of the songs on SHIRLEY'S SOUNDS were recorded at two different sessions in 1958. Most of the material is in a mellow blues vein. No issues with this original 1961 mono pressing, bass, drums and organ are all clear and distinct, levels are solid from top to bottom, and the soundstage is warm and full. My copy plays nice and clean, with faint surface noise at times.
Though it wasn't out until 1961, nearly every track on SHIRLEY'S SOUNDS was laid down during two separate sessions in '58. The majority of the tunes lean into a smooth bluesy groove. This original mono pressing from '61 is in great shape, with the bass, drums, and organ all coming through crisp and separate, levels are steady throughout, and the soundstage is cozy and rich. My copy spins cleanly, with just a touch of surface noise here and there.
