About Evan Parker

Evan Parker is a pioneering British saxophonist renowned for his innovative approach to free improvisation. Born in Bristol in 1944, Parker began playing the saxophone at the age of 14 and has since become a seminal figure in the European free music scene. Known for his distinctive sound and fluid development of multiphonic techniques, Parker has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible on the tenor and soprano saxophones. His collaborations, notably with the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and a vast array of percussionists and electronic musicians, have solidified his status as one of the most influential and recognizable artists in avant-garde and free jazz. Parker's music is not just about notes; it's about creating a constantly evolving sonic landscape that challenges and engages the listener.
