Product description

The Killers' sophomore album, Sam's Town, is a masterful blend of alternative rock that showcases the band's growth and maturity. Released on 27 September 2006 via Island Records, this 44-minute journey is packed with 12 tracks that demonstrate The Killers' ability to craft catchy, yet emotionally resonant songs.

From the opening notes of the title track 'Sam's Town', it's clear that The Killers are on a mission to push the boundaries of their sound. With tracks like 'When You Were Young' and 'Read My Mind', the band's signature blend of indie rock and new wave influences is on full display. Meanwhile, songs like 'Bling (Confession Of A King)' and 'Uncle Jonny' showcase the band's ability to craft more introspective, emotionally charged songs.

Throughout the album, The Killers' distinctive sound is woven together by Brandon Flowers' soaring vocals and the band's tight, driving instrumentation. With Sam's Town, The Killers have created an album that is both a testament to their musical prowess and a deeply personal exploration of the human experience. Fans of alternative rock will find plenty to love in this album, which is a must-listen for anyone looking to experience The Killers' unique sound.

This 2020 Limited Edition Reissue LP is pressed on White vinyl.

  • Vinyl Passable, Packaging Excellent

This pressing is okay, but it's not the most lively one out there. Since there wasn't a vinyl release when the album came out in 2006, it seems like this was mastered from a digital source sometime later. I'll give it a passing grade just for the sake of having it on vinyl. I'd bet the 10th Anniversary 2xLP is a better choice? The vinyl is flat and quiet, but the packaging is excellent.

  • Sam's Town Vinyl Gem

Among the newer additions to my vinyl collection, which is mostly filled with vintage records, "Sam's Town" stands out as an almost flawless album, start to finish. I'd even go as far to say I enjoy it more than "Hot Fuss," which is also a brilliant piece of work. The tracklisting is tailor-made for vinyl, making it a perfect fit for my collection. As for the sound quality, it does lean a bit towards the treble side, but I'm not sure if that's an issue with this particular pressing or the album in general, as I don't own it in any other format. That being said, the audio quality is still quite good. All in all, it's an absolutely amazing album!

  • Worth It for Killers Fans

Sure, there's some pops and crackles before cleaning, but it's not as awful as some folks here are saying. Unlistenable? Come on! Maybe you all need better setups. The bass is punchy, the vocals sit just right, and the lead guitar always shines through. The separation is there for me, especially in the synth parts. If you're a Killers fan, it's definitely worth grabbing.

  • Dull, Short Record

A tad letdown, the record has a clean sound but it's a bit short on the dynamics.

  • Solid Album, Great Quality

From what I've heard, this sounds pretty good. It's not a vinyl remaster, so keeping that in mind, I'm happy with this album. There's hardly any surface noise, not much in the way of pops or clicks. The gatefold is nice, and the insert is cool too. I didn't want to risk it with the picture disc, as I've heard mixed reviews, but I think I made a good choice here.
