This album is identical to his 1961 debut, At The Rock House, except it's missing one track, the songs are in a different order, and the cover art is not the same.
At some point, folks are gonna realize these Wax Time vinyl releases are seriously impressive... sure, they MAY just be CDs pressed on vinyl, but they're executed flawlessly with DMM, and the vinyl is incredibly flat and quiet... and the price is still a steal... go ahead and drop a small fortune on some so-called analog audiophile edition... Michael Fremer will be thrilled! I've got a pile of jazz records from Wax Time, costing half to a third of what those newer, fancy limited editions go for... most of these Wax Time pressings even outperform them in terms of quiet vinyl... there's nothing worse than shelling out 50 bucks or more for some audiophile release, only to have to run it through a wet vacuum cleaning system multiple times before it'll play... just to find out that fancy new pressing is basically a CD on vinyl anyway, despite all the marketing hype they used to lure you in...
Even though "STEREO" is writen on the front, every track is actually in mono.
I'm not entirely certain if this album came out before "Lonely And Blue," but it probably hit the shelves to capitalize on the triumph of "Only The Lonely" and "Blue Angel," both of which were released prior to this album. Fun fact: The track "Rock House" was penned by Conway Twitty (real name Harold Lloyd Jenkins). "You're My Baby" was crafted by Johnny Cash. Besides the two albums dedicated to specific songwriters (Don Gibson and Hank Williams), this is the sole album that doesn't feature any compositions by Roy Orbison.
