Product description

Dive into the raw and intense world of Life of Agony with their debut studio album, "River Runs Red," released on October 12, 1993, via Roadrunner Records. This seminal work in the alternative metal genre clocks in at a concise 50 minutes, packing a powerful punch with its 12 tracks. The album is a concept piece that fearlessly tackles the heavy themes of suicide and abuse, setting it apart in the landscape of early '90s metal.

"River Runs Red" kicks off with the haunting "This Time" and quickly delves into the gritty "Underground," showcasing the band's signature blend of heavy riffs and introspective lyrics. The album's title track, "River Runs Red," is a brief but impactful interlude that underscores the album's dark themes. Standout tracks like "Through and Through" and "Words and Music" highlight the band's musical prowess, while "Bad Seed" and "Respect" offer moments of raw, unfiltered energy.

The album's unique structure, including shorter interludes like "Monday" and "Thursday," adds a dynamic element to the listening experience. "River Runs Red" not only solidified Life of Agony's place in the alternative metal scene but also laid the groundwork for their future releases. This album is a testament to the band's ability to blend heavy music with profound, thought-provoking lyrics, making it a standout release in the genre.

This 2013 Limited Edition Numbered Reissue 2LP set is pressed on Red vinyl.

This one's got a massive low end, a scorching cut all the way through. It hits hard in the most awesome way.

  • Vinyl Quality with Surface Noise

Great packaging, thick heavy vinyl. Audio is strong and crisp but has some audible surface noise between songs and during the breaks. Fortunately, the music doesn't have any quiet sections to highlight the surface noise.

This one's got a massive low end, a scorching cut all the way through. It's brutally awesome, in the best way imaginable.

I've got this one and the first version, and let me tell you, they're not even in the same league. When you crank up the volume, this one sounds like it's struggling, all muddled and overloaded. The original, though, it's got that full dynamic range, and you can hear every little detail so much clearer. I just don't get why they're charging so much for this reissue.

Great packaging, sturdy thick vinyl. Audio is strong and crisp but there's some audible surface noise between songs and during the interludes. Fortunately, the tracks themselves don't have any soft parts to highlight the surface noise.
