This is my top pick of chaotic sounds from Skrillex, no matter what those EDM elitists claim. I've been following this artist since the Scary Monsters days when I was just a kid, and I'm telling you, this is the ultimate bro step right here. I'm all in, Sonny boy.
This is my go-to album of chaotic sounds by Skrillex, no matter what those EDM elitists claim. I've been following this artist since the days of "Scary Monsters" dropped and I was just a kid of 11, and I can honestly say this is the ultimate in bro step. I'm all in for ya, Sonny boy.
Recess has always stood out a bit in Skrillex's catalog. It marked his biggest shift from that iconic 2010-2012 sound that won over so many fans. Even upon its release, I struggled to grasp some tracks like Coast Is Clear, Doompy Poomp & Fuck That (though I've grown quite fond of the latter two over time). I'm usually all about variety in an album, but I still feel Recess lacks that cohesive album experience overall. What exactly ties these tracks together? I'm not entirely sure. That said, there are still some brilliant moments scattered throughout. The title track is a total blast, Doompy Poomp is delightfully bizarre yet playful—definitely not what you'd expect from Skrillex—and Fire Away might just be his most profound, emotional (and intricately crafted) song to date. While I still prefer his work before Recess, there's no denying the immense skill and talent showcased here. He hasn't quite reached this level of creativity in his post-Recess releases. The vinyl quality is fantastic. I picked mine up from Amazon AU for $13.64 AUD back in January 2020.
''Recess'' is hands down the greatest Dubstep album out there. It's Brostep at its finest, no doubt about it. Skrillex was at his absolute prime here, and this is undoubtedly his best work yet. I'm lost for words trying to describe this masterpiece. The only other album that comes close in terms of quality is the ''Jack U'' project. Sadly, we'll never see another ''Recess'' again. His last two albums from 2023 are just plain rubbish. He's ditched EDM for some gloomy, boring underground electronica with glitches. P.S: His pals ''Four Tet'' & ''Fred again'' have totally messed up his music style. I'm really hoping he makes a comeback to mainstream EDM.
Back on Amazon! This album is fantastic, every single track. Not a single pop or scratch on my whole vinyl, I'm shocked.
