He began his musical journey at the age of ten, initially playing piano, harmonica, tenor guitar, and banjo before discovering the six-string guitar and the works of jazz greats like Barney Kessel, Charlie Christian, and Django Reinhardt. Alden's impressive career includes collaborations with numerous jazz legends, recordings for Concord Jazz, and appearances on notable albums and soundtracks, such as Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown." Recognized for his creativity and versatility, Alden has been honored with prestigious awards, including being named one of Downbeat Magazine's 75 Great Guitarists of all time. His discography is a testament to his musical prowess, featuring a diverse range of styles and influences, from swing to choro music.
