Product description

"Heavy Artillery" by Howard Alden and Andy Brown Quartet is a masterful display of jazz guitar virtuosity, released on Delmark in 2013. This album is a testament to the finesse and skill of its performers, featuring a blend of standards, Brazilian tunes, and original compositions. Howard Alden, a renowned guitarist with a deep understanding of pre-bop jazz, teams up with Andy Brown to create a swinging and dynamic two-guitar quartet session, backed by the impeccable rhythm section of bassist Joe Policastro and drummer Bob Rummage.

The album opens with "Louisiana," setting the tone for the rest of the record with its slyly unfolding, effortlessly swinging melody. Tracks like "I Had the Craziest Dream" and "If Dreams Come True" showcase the duo's exceptional chemistry, as they play as a duo, while the rest of the album features the full quartet.
