No Rest for the Wicked - Ozzy Osbourne

Product description

"No Rest for the Wicked" is Ozzy Osbourne's fifth solo studio album, a blazing testament to his enduring influence in the realms of heavy metal and glam metal. Released on October 10, 1988, under the Epic label, this album is a high-octane journey through 11 tracks of raw, unapologetic rock energy. The album's lead single, "Miracle Man," introduces the groundbreaking presence of Zakk Wylde, whose searing guitar work would become a defining element of Ozzy's sound in the years to come.

The album opens with the title track, "No Rest for the Wicked," a song that immediately sets the tone for the rest of the record. Tracks like "Devil's Daughter (Holy War)" and "Crazy Babies" showcase Ozzy's signature blend of dark lyricism and infectious melodies, while "Breakin' All the Rules" and "Fire in the Sky" deliver hard-hitting riffs and soaring choruses. The album also includes a live version of "Miracle Man," recorded at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, PA in June 1989, offering a glimpse into Ozzy's electrifying stage presence.

Despite some criticism regarding its mix, "No Rest for the Wicked" remains a pivotal moment in Ozzy Osbourne's career, marking the beginning of a new era with Zakk Wylde's arrival. With a runtime of just over 51 minutes, this album is a relentless ride through the heart of 80s metal, featuring some of Ozzy's most memorable and enduring compositions. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to Ozzy's music, "No Rest for the Wicked" is an essential addition to any rock and metal collection.

This is a 1991 Reissue released as a LP.

  • Whelks at Your Mother

    4 out of 5 stars

Ozzy's spot in Hull, Your Mother, flogs some mean Whelks. Can't get enough of it!

  • Ozzy's Best, Improved Sound

    4 out of 5 stars
    efwujJanuary 16, 2026United States🇺🇸

The LP and CD versions both have a muffled, lackluster sound. It appears the high frequencies were reduced in the mastering process. I recently re-equalized the CD using a DAW, which significantly improved the recording. The snare and cymbals now stand out in the mix, and Ozzy's voice has a more eerie, haunting quality, allowing me to hear the double tracks that were recorded. As for the album itself, I believe it's Ozzy's best release. While many praise his first two albums due to Randy Rhoads, I find them great but quite dated in both songwriting and production. This album, however, could easily be released today without sounding out of place. A 5-star album with 4 stars for mastering.

  • Ozzy's Zakk Shredding Triumph

Ozzy's one of my all-time fav albums! With Zakk shredding on guitar, it set the stage for so many more awesome albums to come.

  • Zakk Wylde's Stellar Debut

This entire album is absolutely amazing. Zakk Wylde's debut? Hell yeah! There's not a single weak track on this whole thing.

  • Zakk's First Release Revisited

    4 out of 5 stars

This album never truly resonated with me initially. But, giving it a spin after 35 years, it's not half bad. Zakk's first release.
