HEAD'S UP: The vinyl is a solid red, not see-through. The sound quality is really good. The audio mix is analog.
The 1983 originals had a warmer sound, were more lively, and were twice as loud. I returned it.
Kudos to whoever was in charge of this record pressing. Utter trash, straight into the rubbish bin. The packaging is stunning, with a top-notch tri-fold cover, but it's beyond me how they manage to achieve such horrendous sound quality from a vinyl record. It must be complete novices handling this. There's a vast difference between the original pressing and this one. The Music on Vinyl version in red vinyl is also far superior. For many, the difference between the original pressing and the Music on vinyl might just be a matter of sound preference. Both are excellent, but the original is the only edition that truly rocks, that has that raw edge, that really kicks. This is a total waste of cash.
Perhaps my ears aren't as picky, but I believe this reissue sounds great. My vinyl is nice and quiet, with no background noise whatsoever. I reckon they've toned down the 'loudness' to more reasonable levels. It's simple enough to boost it with an amp if you want to. I'm content with it just the way it is, personally. I wasn't anticipating such impressive packaging - it's absolutely fantastic. I didn't realize it'd all be in German, but of course it is. Overall, I'm really pleased with it.
