Product description

Michel-Richard de Lalande's "Grands Motets, Dies irae, Miserere, Veni creator" is a captivating journey through the sacred music of one of Louis XIV's most esteemed court composers. Released on February 4, 2022, this album is a testament to Lalande's mastery of the motet genre, showcasing his ability to blend intricate vocal lines with profound spiritual themes. The collection features three of Lalande's most significant works, composed during his early years, each offering a unique perspective on his artistic evolution.

The album spans a generous 1 hour and 28 minutes, providing an immersive experience of Lalande's musical genius. It includes the powerful "Dies irae," a chilling depiction of the Day of Judgment, and the penitent "Miserere," a plea for divine mercy. The album also features "Veni creator," a hymn invoking the Holy Spirit, and a bonus track, "Grande Pièce royale en sol," a royal fantasy that was frequently requested by the king himself.

Performed by the Ensemble Correspondances, this recording is a faithful representation of Lalande's original compositions, brought to life with meticulous attention to historical accuracy. The album is a treasure trove for both classical music enthusiasts and those seeking to explore the rich tapestry of Baroque music. With its compelling performances and historical significance, this album is a standout addition to any music collection.
