Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
Awesome album, the mastering and audio quality are top-notch. The packaging feels a bit cheap though. My copy has a silent surface.
Boyaka, yet another fantastic repress, there appear to be numerous reissues since 2013 (amazon.de lists this as a 2017 release, but PLEASE never rely on their details, you might end up with a completely different album by another band due to all their broken links and inaccurate data... But I purchased this one in late July of the year 2023 and got an incredibly well-sounding set of records that aren't mastered too loud but still utilize the space of one side for two or three tracks, giving them a 12" 45 sound. It credits Tim Young, so it seems Virgin used his original acetates for this repress? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But this guy knew his stuff, and the discs are in a class of their own compared to many others. Go ahead and buy with confidence! 😌Oh, and... the music... !!! If you're a fan of Smith & Mighty, Portishead, Roni Size, Tom Waits, or Neil Young - you'll adore it. If you're already familiar with the album and thinking about getting the vinyl- just do it!!!Maybe someone should start a 2017 re-release page? The 2017 version is absolutely brilliant, it was cut by Tim Young, not Sean Magee. And it sounds like a 5*.
How does this one vary from the 2014 version? The matrix runouts seem similar to what I have, but the text on the label is printed in red, unlike this or the 2014 edition which have black letters. Any ideas?
Mezzanine by Massive Attack is an absolute BEAST of an Electronic album! The record boasts some of the most powerful bass lines you'll ever hear, sparkling highs, and stunning vocals that sit perfectly in the middle. Alongside the first Sneaker Pimps album (you know, the one that became x), this is one of the greatest UK dance albums ever made. You can still grab it for nearly its original price, so treat yourself and grab a copy. It's already a CLASSIC and will STAY one for years to come!Music quality:4.5*Sound quality:4.5*Mastering/pressing:4.5*Turntable:Rega P3/Neo psuTonearm:Audiomods Series 6Cartridge:Denon 103 boron canti/shibata tip/metal cap bodyPhono Stage:Whest TWO.2 Class aPre/Pwr:Musical FidelitySpeakers:Tannoy
The release finally happened on August 23, 2019. It was pushed back because there were problems with the Deluxe Vinyl. Check out Massive Attack's statement from August 15th below: "We chose to pull the Mezzanine special edition package because we couldn't get the original design materials anymore. After putting in extra months of work and digging around, we felt the new packaging ideas didn't fit with the original album. So, we're putting out the Mad Professor Dub versions on vinyl instead. Sorry to those who pre-ordered the special edition.
