Product description

Immerse yourself in the masterful conducting of Kurt Masur with this captivating album, featuring a trio of renowned composers and their iconic works. Recorded in 2007 with the Dresdner Philharmonie, this collection showcases Masur's profound musical leadership and the orchestra's virtuosity.

The album opens with Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16, a stirring piece that highlights the piano's lyrical and dramatic capabilities. Pianist Annerose Schmidt delivers a compelling performance, bringing Grieg's evocative melodies to life under Masur's expert guidance.

Next, Carl Maria von Weber's Konzertstück in F minor, Op. 79, J. 282, demonstrates the orchestra's technical prowess and Masur's ability to navigate complex compositions with precision and finesse.

The album concludes with Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 4 in D minor, Op. 120, performed in its original 1841 version. Masur's meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding of Schumann's orchestration shine through in this expertly crafted performance, offering a fresh perspective on this beloved symphony.

Throughout the album, Masur's disciplined command and stature as a conductor are evident, making this a compelling addition to any classical music enthusiast's collection.
