  • Sabbath's Live Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    vilsehenDecember 2, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Well, why not give it a spin. As far as I can recall, I'd never listened to this album before - which, in itself, is a delight (discovering classic Sabbath for the first time? Hell yeah!). It turns out this is the only official live Black Sabbath album featuring the original lineup - you know, the one that truly counts - meaning Ozzy (and how in the world did this dynamic, energetic powerhouse captured here transform into the shuffling, robe-clad, mumbling, dog-shit spotting, absurd figure we're all familiar with, and, well, if not love - chuckle at?) is on vocals, and he's in stellar form too - tossing out drunken 'We love you's throughout the album to a cheering crowd of, no doubt, rowdy fans drunk enough to match his own fervor. There's something unsettling about hard metal live albums that gives me the chills - the solos. Fortunately, here - while not skipped - they're fairly brief, and quickly fade into stoned instrumental jams (which, unlike solos, I adore) that, with a few verses here and there, make up an 18-minute 'Wicked World'. Toss in an early version of 'Killing Yourself to Live' (absolute gem!), a few well-executed classics, and a highly effective 'Paranoid' to wrap things up, and honestly, you couldn't ask for much more from a live Sabbath album. Well, I say couldn't - 'Iron Man', 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath'... truth be told, you could ask for another album's worth, but let's not nitpick. So, while the sound is a bit muddy - Sabbath's sound always was a bit murky - this is an enjoyable live album from the band that solidified 'heavy' into 'metal', and a great reminder of why they've been making a TV show about this guy who shares the same name with their lead singer; good concept - wrong era... In a nutshell - should've been a double album.

  • Worth a Listen

In my opinion, the sound is quite good, especially considering it's a sealed copy for $18. It could maybe use a bit more bass, but it's not bad at all. I've heard worse, and this one is quite pleasant to my ears. I'd say it's worth a listen.

  • Black Sabbath Live Delight

This is a heavy and dark Black Sabbath live album, and I'm really into it. My copy was made by Planet Records Solina in Sweden, and there's some pops and clicks, but it's not too bad.

  • Sabbath Live Worth Listening

    3 out of 5 stars
    qivgmegtMay 14, 2024United States🇺🇸

Definitely not the best sounding live album in my collection, though I'd been warned about that. It's still worth picking up and giving a listen, especially since it's not too pricey. I mainly got it to expand my Sabbath collection.

  • Live Sabbath Rocks

    3 out of 5 stars
    Seeloz_TerahnuMarch 31, 2024United States🇺🇸

It's a bootleg recording, so don't anticipate studio-quality sound. It's a live Black Sabbath performance from their Volume 4 tour, and it rocks. The show is solid. The audio quality isn't perfect but still sounds awesome. I wouldn't spend more than thirty bucks on it.

About Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath, the legendary English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1968, is widely hailed as the pioneers of heavy metal. Comprising guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, the band's debut album, "Black Sabbath," released in 1970, is often cited as the first true heavy metal album. Their seminal works, including "Paranoid" and "Master of Reality," defined the genre and produced iconic tracks like "Iron Man" and "War Pigs." Known for their bludgeoning brand of rock, Black Sabbath became a staple of the 1970s music scene, touring extensively and performing at major rock festivals. Their influence is immeasurable, setting the standard for metal bands worldwide.
