  • Ray Brown's Cello Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    jlizarizJanuary 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

Ray Brown, an everlasting virtuoso of the acoustic bass, a genuine maestro of the instrument, an embodiment of his own creative story, showcases an extraordinary aptitude when stepping in for the Cello, not a mere mimicry, but the unparalleled skill of Mr. Brown. This LP is a masterpiece that, in my view, enhances his well-earned renown, it's exquisite, touching, purposeful, and brilliantly conceived and performed. A mention, the unrivaled arranger Russ Garcia is behind this LP, the liner notes confirm this, and indeed, Russ, in his artistry, accentuates the beauty of Ray Brown's work, and Ray Brown's prowess highlights the brilliance of Russ Garcia's arrangements, a partnership yielding exceptional outcomes. I personally suggest listening to it from start to finish, even for the doubtful, and if skepticism lingers, that's understandable, but in my modest opinion, I believe it will reveal its sonic splendor in this way, as it did for me so generously...

    5 out of 5 stars
    vzunagafFebruary 9, 2024United States🇺🇸

Ray Brown, an everlasting virtuoso of the acoustic bass, a genuine maestro of the instrument, an embodiment of his very creative narrative, exhibits an extraordinary aptitude when taking the place of the Cello, which he manipulates, no cliché, no mimicry, but the sheer mastery of Mr. Brown. A stunning LP, that I believe enhances his well-earned reputation, exquisite, touching, purposeful, and brilliantly conceived and performed. A mention, the unparalleled arranger Russ Garcia is the mastermind behind this LP, the liner notes confirm this, and truly Russ, in the elegance of his work, brings out the beauty in what Ray Brown accomplishes, and what Ray Brown accomplishes highlights the beauty in what Russ Garcia does, a partnership that yields the finest of outcomes. I personally suggest, to listen to it from start to finish, even for the doubter, and if the skepticism lingers that is understandable, but in my humble view, I believe it will reveal its sonic splendor in this way as it so kindly did for me...
