Ray Charles is truly one-of-a-kind, and "Recipe for Soul" serves as a testament to his unparalleled talent. This album is packed with profound tracks like "Busted," "Lucky Old Sun," "In The Evening," and "Over The Rainbow." His voice is just dripping with so much emotion. That said, the production does have a somewhat dated feel, with horn and chorus arrangements that were quite popular back then. But honestly, the production never overshadows Charles' brilliance, and he makes it all work seamlessly. There are a couple of song choices that seem more like products of their era than timeless hits, but those are minor points. Overall, this is Ray at his best, following up the success of his "Modern Sounds" albums from the previous year. This mono Canadian pressing sounds fantastic! The vinyl is nice and heavy, mastered at Bell Sound Studios, so you're getting a very authentic pressing.
