  • In Utero's Impressive Audio Quality

    4 out of 5 stars
    NTesdoxPJanuary 9, 2026United States🇺🇸

Upon giving this a spin, I was struck by the impressive audio quality. While I still lean towards the sound of the '93 European release (from Holland), especially on the first side, this version is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a top-notch pressing of Nirvana's final album, In Utero. I also own the 3LP 20th anniversary vinyl edition. That one's DMM transfer provides a different listening experience (with a broader soundstage) but this new issue offers a fresh perspective on the album. I'd recommend it, and I suspect the price might drop a bit over time. Currently, the less radio-friendly, original Steve Albini cut on the Back to Black label is still cheaper than this one. The accompanying 10" EP sounds decent, though I'm not a big fan of most of the tracks. The overall packaging looks great, but the tiny, uninspired font on the spine is a letdown compared to the original art and design of previous versions. It's a small thing, but it's disappointing in terms of the packaging.

  • Remastered Album Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    OLeapk45December 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

This is hands-down my top pick for this album since it first came out. The remaster is absolutely stunning, with a sound that really packs a punch. Krist’s bass is so much more upfront and noticeable. I'm obsessed with the gatefold and that shiny logo print. The 10inch version is top-notch. Grab this while you can and it's still affordable!

  • Fantastic Album Changes

    5 out of 5 stars
    Wastj64December 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

This album's version is absolutely fantastic. I'm really enjoying the changes, some are quite noticeable (such as the intro to Rape Me or the guitar solo in Scentless Apprentice) and others are more understated.

  • Bootleg Disappointment

    2 out of 5 stars
    Rarik.qhagifyotDecember 13, 2025United States🇺🇸

This is a bootleg copy. I picked it up from the Mercyful Fate guitarist's record shop in Copenhagen. I was under the impression it was an original or at least that other yellowish one that's actually scarce (the ORG version). The cover's print job is quite poor and misaligned, honestly. The sound quality is really squashed and flat, likely because it was probably recorded onto vinyl from a CD player. I'll probably hold onto it for nostalgia's sake.

  • Perfect Nirvana Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    twupoz_hcuf85November 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

this is hands down the finest pressing ive ever heard. my version was flawless and played like a dream straight from the sleeve, just needed a quick static brush. its so great to finally have an almost perfect pressing of my all-time favorite Nirvana record. crank it up!!

About Nirvana

Nirvana, the iconic American rock band from Aberdeen, Washington, stormed onto the music scene in 1987 and forever changed the landscape of alternative rock. Founded by the legendary Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, Nirvana's raw, punk-inspired sound and anti-establishment ethos captured the spirit of a generation. Their breakthrough album, "Nevermind," released in 1991, introduced the world to the grunge movement with the anthemic "Smells Like Teen Spirit." With Dave Grohl on drums, the band's intense live performances and Cobain's powerful songwriting made them the voice of Generation X. Nirvana's influence extends far beyond their discography, inspiring countless bands and leaving an indelible mark on rock history. Their legacy continues to resonate, making them one of the most significant bands in music history.
