In my view, the sound isn't great.

  • Robbie Williams' Audio Disappointment

This album, in my view, isn't Robbie Williams' finest work. Sadly, the audio quality isn't up to par. His debut album, "Life truh a lense," boasts a far superior sound.

  • Robbie Williams' Stellar Debut

Considering that this guy was still singing in a boy band just a few years ago, this debut album deserves even more praise. Robbie Williams has grown up, that's for sure: this man has got talent. He writes sweet, high-quality, simply beautiful pop songs, and "Millennium" is undoubtedly the pop song of the year 1998. But it's not just pop, because with "Karma Killer" and "Man Machine" there are also rock songs, which of course have a touch of pop. Especially "Karma Killer," with its orchestral arrangement by the London Session Orchestra, could lay the foundation for a rock opera. Without the orchestra, this album would only be half as valuable, as most of the songs wouldn't have that special touch under the direction of Gavin Wright. Because of all this, this album is also meant for ears that usually only listen to harder material. It's no surprise that this album appeared in most rock magazines among the best albums of 1998. By the way, this debut, with its hit singles "Strong," "No Regrets," "Millennium," "She's the One," and "Man Machine," is hard to beat. And even for me, it would have received the highest score if it weren't for the two-track hidden track, which ruins the overall picture of this album. A shame, but it's unforgivable.

  • Quality Control Issues Persist

    5 out of 5 stars

The visuals on this are fantastic, and the pressing is nice and even, right in the middle. The sound quality is decent, not mind-blowing, but then again, I don't think this was ever a record for audiophiles. At least there's no weird noises or anything like that. Not sure about their quality control though - I had to swap both of these albums due to a messed up cover on one and a scratch on the other. The new ones had their own issues but thankfully, I eventually got a good copy of each. Same deal with most of the new records I've bought lately - usually need to exchange at least one before getting a good one. I guess the factories are just too busy and can't keep up?
