Product description

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of Toshio Hosokawa's "Hosokawa: Solo Concertos, Vol. 1," a 2013 release under the NEOS Music label. This experimental album is a testament to Hosokawa's unique compositional style, where he believes music should be noble, setting him apart in the classical genre. Spanning just over 50 minutes, the album features three intricate solo concertos: "Landscape III," "Flute Concerto 'Per-Sonare'," and "Piano Concerto 'Ans Meer'," each showcasing Hosokawa's distinctive approach to orchestral and solo instrument interplay.

The album opens with "Landscape III," a piece that invites listeners to explore the sonic landscapes Hosokawa has crafted. About Toshio Hosokawa

Toshio Hosokawa, born in Hiroshima in 1955, is a pioneering figure in contemporary classical music, renowned for his unique blend of Eastern and Western musical traditions. After initial studies in Tokyo, Hosokawa ventured to Berlin in 1976 to study composition with the esteemed Isang Yun. This period marked the beginning of his distinctive style, deeply rooted in classical Japanese music and culture, yet profoundly influenced by his Western training.
