There's a bit of surface hiss, but it's not too bad. The rhythm section on this record is absolutely fantastic. The bass has such a great bounce, and the snare just snaps…this is some top-notch recording/mastering.
I just put this record on and was hooked from beginning to end! My copy is pristine and noise-free. The production is fantastic, with the kick drum and bass really standing out and the Waylors sounding raw and slightly unpolished (just like a genuine honky tonk band ought to!). It's got that 'live' in the studio vibe that I haven't experienced in a country album for ages. I found myself longing for the tracks to keep going past the fade-outs. I'm a huge fan of this era of Waylon's work, and this VMP re-release of this classic album is absolutely brilliant!
This is a fantastic pressing, and truthfully, after owning this album on CD for ages, I was amazed at how well-recorded it truly is until I heard this version. It's absolutely brilliant!
Outlaw country's ultimate masterpiece, Exile on Main Street.
I'm just joining in with the crowd here. The sound quality is absolutely fantastic. This is likely my top pick among all the Country vinyls I've gotten from VMP.
