The initial version of this album I purchased was absolutely awful. It was so warped that it was unplayable and had tons of crackling and popping noises. I got it exchanged, and I'm really glad to report that the new copy is WAY better. Barely any crackle or pop, perfectly flat, and it sounds really open and dynamic. 4 Stars 'cause the new copy still ain't perfect and the first one was a total bust.
This is an awesome version of a fantastic album. Grab it if you haven't got it yet.
This record's sound is incredible, though there's some surface noise present. Perhaps I should try wet cleaning it? The second playthrough sounded worse than the first, and I used a carbon fiber brush both times to remove dust. It's tough to spot dust on clear vinyl, though. On the bright side, it looks stunning. Also, side A ends with a locked groove, repeating the drone at the end of "hey," and "white horses" is cut short, missing the final instrumental part.
Crank it up too much and it'll wreck your speakers! The craftsmanship here is absolutely top-notch!
This might just be the best sounding Low album I own on vinyl. Granted, their previous records weren't exactly setting the standard, but I was genuinely impressed by how crisp and full the audio came across here. Definitely worth checking out.
