I'm still puzzled about why so many of Thin Lizzy's original albums have a muffled sound quality, almost like they were recorded underwater. Despite that, they're still a fantastic band with a great collection of songs. This album, in particular, is an outstanding piece of work, filled with brilliant songs and unforgettable guitar anthems.
Picked up this one since I couldn't find any older versions nearby. The sound quality is disappointing, it's quite flat. I've had to boost the bass just to make it tolerable. The highs are way too pronounced, the mids are lackluster, and the lows are barely there. I was really hoping for a better audio experience. I own Nightlife, Jailbreak, and Johnny the Fox - all from the 70s pressings, and they sound absolutely incredible, like a dream come true. In comparison, this one is a letdown. Plus, if you inspect the back cover closely, you'll notice some errors. The card symbols next to the band members' names are mixed up and incorrectly placed next to the song titles. It's not like the initial releases at all.
Fantastic reissue. Played it from start to finish. No hissing or skips that you usually find in recent pressings. Definitely give this version a shot.
Top album from '75? Perhaps, but it's definitely up there! Absolutely love this one
Rosalie doesn't sound so great, but at least it's not just a bad Bob Seger cover - the label did that on purpose, so half marks there. The other tracks are way better though.
