Great pressing here. The vinyl's sound quality is excellent, with solid dynamics and zero surface noise or pops. At just over 20 euros, it's a no-brainer purchase. Highly recommend it!
Among the finest Mobile Fidelity records I own, maybe even the top one. I was worried about the typical loud highs and weak middle, but this one's so clear and perfectly balanced.
I'm torn about this pressing since I don't own the original to make a comparison, but I can see why some folks might think it's a tad dull and lifeless. It's a solid digital remaster, super clean in a subjective way, with awesome stereo imaging and separation. But to my ears, it's a bit short on dynamics, sounding quite 'digital'. That might be just fine for most people (judging by other reviews, I'm definitely in the minority here), but it's missing that fullness I'd expect from a vinyl record. Where's the deep bass? I know my setup (Rega turntable and amp) can handle more on other discs, but this one's a bit meh. Too bad, 'cause the music itself is fantastic.
Arguably the finest illustration of how APP evolved into crafting stunning, well-balanced, mature, and sophisticated music. A truly excellent album. And in ‘Silence and I,’ they’ve created an epic, proggy, symphonic masterpiece. Adore the title track, adore the instrumental Mammagamma.
My copy's label says "All compositions 1981", but most others I've seen say 1982 on theirs.
