Product description

Immerse yourself in the vibrant and dynamic world of ragtime and boogie-woogie with Ralph Sutton's 1993 album "Duet." This captivating collaboration between the legendary pianist Ralph Sutton and the talented trumpeter Yoshio Toyama offers a timeless collection of classic jazz standards, each track brimming with energy, charm, and impeccable musicianship.

Recorded in Tokyo in June 1987, "Duet" showcases the effortless chemistry between Sutton and Toyama, as they navigate through a diverse repertoire of beloved tunes. From the upbeat and infectious "On the Sunny Side of the Street" to the soulful and introspective "Moonglow," each song is a testament to the artists' virtuosity and their ability to breathe new life into timeless melodies.

The album's 14 tracks, spanning a total of 58 minutes, include such jazz favorites as "Ain't Misbehavin'," "Dinah," "Old Folks," and "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans." Sutton's masterful piano playing, characterized by its rhythmic complexity and harmonic richness, perfectly complements Toyama's expressive trumpet work and occasional vocals, creating a listening experience that is both engaging and deeply satisfying.

"Duet" is not just an album; it's a celebration of jazz's golden era, reimagined through the lens of two extraordinary musicians. Whether you're a longtime fan of Ralph Sutton or a newcomer to the world of ragtime and boogie-woogie, this album is sure to delight and inspire. So, sit back, relax, and let the enchanting sounds of "Duet" transport you to a place where jazz is not just music, but a way of life.
