I've had this record, unopened, in my collection since 2010, and finally decided to crack it. Gave it a good clean and a spin. I've got zero issues with this pressing! It's perfectly flat, dead quiet, and mastered beautifully with awesome separation and projection. A stunning pressing, if you ask me.
I own this version and wanted to share my opinions... In my opinion, it's a fantastic pressing, I haven't encountered any skips, issues, or groove wear on my two LPs, the background noise is almost non-existent, just a couple of light tickles on the first track ("Plainsong") and one tickle at the beginning of track C1, everything else is perfect, both records are flat, the mixing is spot on, I highly recommend it. I've only done one cleaning session with my Okki Nokki, maybe I'll do a second one in the coming days to see if those three pops vanish. This release is the first on vinyl with the lyrics printed on the inner sleeves (as stated on the hype-sticker), so it's a nice bonus. Very pleased!
Like others have mentioned, I had to give this a good clean before I could truly appreciate it. The first time I played it, the noise was just too much, but that's because it was pretty dusty and grimy. Once I cleaned it up, though, it's just mind-blowing. I can't even tell if it's the vinyl's quality or just that this is one of the most chilling, captivating listening experiences ever made. When you hear that drum hit on Plainsong, you're in for a journey out of this world.
With each cartridge upgrade, my appreciation for this grows. It's incredible how densely packed the grooves are yet it still delivers such great sound. A 45rpm repress, perhaps split across a few discs, could be even better.
The cover for this vinyl is a tad too snug, which might harm the record, but apart from that, it's an excellent pressing.
