Product description

Immerse yourself in a captivating journey through time and sound with Robert Spano's compelling album, a masterful blend of operatic and symphonic works that showcase the depth and versatility of his musical prowess. Released on October 25, 2005, under the Telarc label, this album is a testament to Spano's ability to bring together diverse compositions into a cohesive and engaging experience.

The album opens with David Del Tredici's "Paul Revere's Ride," a dramatic and historically inspired opera that brings to life the legendary midnight ride of Paul Revere. The four-part structure of the opera, from the initial call to the thrilling ride and the reflective epilogue, offers a rich narrative that is both engaging and musically intricate.

Following this, the album presents the world premiere recording of Jennifer Higdon's "The Here and Now," a song cycle that explores themes of love, loss, and the human experience. The cycle is divided into thirteen movements, each offering a unique perspective on the emotions and experiences that define our lives. The narrative interludes provide a poetic counterpoint to the musical expressions, adding depth and context to the overall work.

The album concludes with Leonard Bernstein's "Lamentation" from his Symphony No. 1 "Jeremiah," a poignant and reflective piece that serves as a powerful conclusion to the album. This symphonic work, with its rich orchestration and profound emotional depth, showcases Bernstein's unique ability to blend musical and literary elements into a cohesive and moving whole.

With a total runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes, this album is a testament to Robert Spano's ability to bring together diverse musical works into a unified and engaging experience. Whether you are a fan of opera, symphonic music, or simply appreciate the artistry of a skilled conductor, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.
