Product description

Steve Earle's "Copperhead Road" is a captivating live album that encapsulates the raw energy and storytelling prowess of one of country music's most revered outlaw voices. Recorded during pivotal performances in Raleigh, NC in 1987 and Calgary in 1989, this collection offers a rare glimpse into Earle's electrifying stage presence and his ability to breathe life into his iconic tracks.

The album kicks off with the defiant "The Devil's Right Hand," setting the tone for a night of gritty, unfiltered country rock. Earle's signature blend of alt-country, outlaw country, and Americana shines through in tracks like "San Antonio Girl" and "Nobody But You/Continental Trailways Blues," showcasing his knack for weaving compelling narratives with a rebellious spirit. The inclusion of "Nebraska," a standout from his 1988 live performance, adds a layer of depth and introspection to the setlist.

Fans will delight in the live renditions of beloved songs like "Copperhead Road," a tale of a third-generation rebel, and "Guitar Town," a track that solidified Earle's place in the annals of country music. The album also features lesser-known gems like "Brown And Root" and "The Week Of Living Dangerously," offering a comprehensive look at Earle's discography.

With a runtime of 1 hour and 18 minutes, "Copperhead Road" is a testament to Steve Earle's enduring legacy and his ability to connect with audiences on a profound level. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to his music, this live album is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates the raw, unfiltered power of outlaw country.

This is a 2016 Reissue released as a LP.

  • Decent but Uneven

    3 out of 5 stars
    giitrowwaonfDecember 15, 2025United States🇺🇸

Decent tunes, but not outstanding. 3-4 solid tracks. The rest feels like fluff. 'Guitar Town' is a stronger Steve Earle album.

  • Low Volume, Poor Quality

    3 out of 5 stars
    nzmufe00August 9, 2025United States🇺🇸

Boring, lacks energy, sounds too quiet. Bad quality pressing! Someone must've left the volume down during mixing.

  • Rebellious Alt-Country Timelessness

    5 out of 5 stars
    xaloyupef59May 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

talkin' 'bout timeless : rebellious and provocative alt-country *****

  • Stunning Soundstage, Masterful Mastering

    5 out of 5 stars
    takgmdueMay 14, 2025United States🇺🇸

Unbelievable sound quality. Vast soundstage, powerful sound yet perfectly balanced. The twanging guitars on Copperhead Road right before the bass drum starts, it's like they're 3D, you can almost pinpoint their location in the room, a bit towards the back. This is a completely new experience compared to any CD I've ever had. I reckon this was recorded digitally, which proves it's all about the mastering. Grab this one. [Tech specs in my profile].

  • Terrible Pressing, Great Music

    2 out of 5 stars
    jimojfojpedhwehMarch 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

Second that first review, this pressing is terrible. Non-stop crackling, bad sound quality. But the music is fantastic.
