Product description

In 1988, Paul McCartney made history as the first Western artist to release an album exclusively in the Soviet Union with "CHOBA B CCCP." This unique collection of live-in-studio recordings showcases McCartney's deep love for rock and roll oldies, featuring covers of classic songs that have stood the test of time. From the energetic "Kansas City" to the soulful "Bring It On Home To Me," and the iconic "Lucille," each track is a testament to McCartney's enduring musical prowess.

Originally titled "Back in the USSR," the album was later released worldwide following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. This remastered edition, released in 2019, brings these timeless performances to a new generation of fans. With a runtime of just under 40 minutes, "CHOBA B CCCP" is a concise yet powerful journey through some of the most beloved songs in rock and roll history, all reimagined by one of music's most legendary figures. Whether you're a longtime fan of Paul McCartney or a newcomer to his extensive discography, this album offers a fresh perspective on classic tunes that have shaped the landscape of modern music.

This LP was released in 1988.

  • Fantastic Audio, Excellent Performances

This is my initial CD version of the album; you can't make a mistake; fantastic audio and excellent performances.

  • Mystery Edition or Version?

    5 out of 5 stars
    OjnjefNEXApril 27, 2025United States🇺🇸

The one I own, bought in Moscow back in '89 while on a study abroad trip from the UK, is exactly like this one, save for the label being WHITE. So, is this a new edition or just a different version?

  • Impressive Sound, Quiet Vinyl

    5 out of 5 stars
    BvzusaFebruary 28, 2025United States🇺🇸

I must say, this is incredibly impressive. The sound quality is unbelievably crisp and the vinyl is so quiet. I grabbed it on a whim for just a buck and I'm really blown away.

  • Terrible Album Quality

    1 out of 5 stars
    hzaykiwoFebruary 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

In my opinion, this album is absolutely terrible - the audio quality is poor and the band sounds like a professional tribute act performing at a local village fair… nowhere near as good as McCartney's previous work and what he'll do in the future (like 'Run Devil Run', for instance!).

  • Flimsy, Weak Cover

    5 out of 5 stars
    NovrloqCsiciyxFebruary 10, 2025United States🇺🇸

This cover is super flimsy, really thin and weak, it's like one of those OIS sleeves
