The tunes are absolutely amazing, but the audio quality is super inconsistent. I'm not sure if it's just this repressing or if the original is like this too.
The label indicates mono, yet this pressing is clearly a stereo record. The music is among the finest recorded jazz ever.
This album is absolutely amazing, with a sound quality that's top-notch. The vinyl is perfectly flat, the background is silent, and every instrument shines, full of life and dynamic range. Booker Little's playing is as smooth as butter, Don Friedman is always underappreciated, and the rest of the band members are on point, if not absolutely outstanding.
Yet another excellent Jpns vinyl release; it's incredibly quiet and packed with detail. The one thing that's a bit off for me is the extreme stereo separation: horns blasting from the left, and everything else coming from the right. Might be an issue from the original mix? If it bugs you, trying mono could be a good idea. The performance is fantastic!
