This splattered copy needed a thorough cleaning, going through both the Spin Clean and ultrasonic cleaner three times to finally eliminate the distortion in the mid and high frequencies. It was surprisingly dirty, with tiny debris that wasn't visible on the record but was easily spotted in the cleaning machines. The record now has excellent surface noise. The music is engaging, though not Carlos' finest work. It's filled with plenty of guitar work. After five listens, I'd rate it at three and a half stars.
Don't go starting by comparing this to Supernatural. Kirk Hammett and Santana teaming up on a single track is absolutely iconic. It's not their finest work, but seriously, the man performed at Woodstock like half a century ago. Great bargain at $9.29 at Target, check it out on clearance.
I'm puzzled why there are no reviews for this album? It's absolutely incredible! The sound quality is fantastic. I've got the black vinyl, no fancy colors or splatter here. The tracks are amazing, with that classic Santana feel. The musicianship is tight and the mix is awesome. It's a great pressing! I waited a while before buying it. I'd listened to the songs a few times on YouTube and thought they were good. But this vinyl is on fire!
Just for those who have to have everything, not nearly as good as Supernatural or Shamen, way too much fluff.
