My version too was super quiet - awesome to at last include it in my assortment.
Gorgeous release. It's way better than the old white one I owned ages back. It's about time they re-released this.
Enchanting and otherworldly—those are the perfect words for Beach House's first album, named after the band itself. "Saltwater" has a slow, dreamy, low-fidelity vibe that sticks around for the whole record. "Apple Orchard" is intoxicating with its sedative-like guitar licks, and "Auburn and Ivory" takes a waltz rhythm and transforms it into a sorrowful dance. "Lovelier Girl" brings back the dreamy feel, while "House on the Hill" has a more sea-inspired sound. Though Legrand's voice wavers a bit and doesn't always stay on key, it fits the lo-fi vibe. A lovely getaway spot, indeed.
Sound quality isn't top-notch, even with a quiet version. It's a letdown for such an awesome album.
The package I got had some noticeable scuffs, probably due to shipping overseas. There's a bit of static and noise, but it doesn't really ruin the music. All in all, the sound quality is pretty good.
