Purchased it still in its sealed packaging. It might be a good idea to give it a wipe down before playing, but it wasn't really necessary. Just a bit of dust that came off with a quick brush. As for the sound, I reckon it's exactly how the band wanted it to be. It's a really distinctive, and I'll admit, a bit flat mix. But that's the atmosphere they're aiming for. It's got this unique, moody, psychedelic, otherworldly, warm, fuzzy...vibe. It's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea.
Fortunate enough to snag a signed copy! The record is perfectly flat, with zero clicks or pops. It's absolutely stunning on my setup, offering an expansive soundstage and impressive depth.
Quite a few clicks and pops...some of the earlier albums have better pressings, but this one's an exception...and the record's pretty shaky...
As usual with their records, the quality is awful. It's really too bad they haven't sorted out these problems yet.
I must say, I'm not happy with this purchase. The digital version sounds far superior. The dynamic range feels squashed, and the guitar has a tendency to distort in an unpleasant manner, leading me to believe that little to no attention was given to the mastering process. Plus, there are numerous pops and clicks throughout. To top it off, the cover is poorly made, with visible strips of unprinted white paper, giving it an overall cheap feel. All these issues resulted in a disappointing listening experience.
