"Rudolf Buchbinder, een van de meest gerespecteerde pianisten van onze tijd, brengt op 3 april 2025 een nieuw album uit bij Warner Classics. "A Piano Ballad" is een verzameling van klassieke pianowerken die variëren van de diepzinnige ballades van Brahms tot de virtuoze variaties van Beethoven en de poëtische preludes van Chopin. Met een speeltijd van 57 minuten biedt dit album een rijke en diverse collectie van klassieke meesterwerken.
Buchbinder, bekend om zijn technische vaardigheid en diepe expressie, brengt zijn unieke interpretaties naar voor in werken zoals Brahms' Ballade in B mineur, Op. 10: No. 3, en Chopins 24 Preludes, Op. 28. Het album omvat ook een uitgebreide selectie van Beethovens variaties, waaronder de Diabelli Variaties en de Variaties op Righini's Arietta "Venni amore".
Naast deze werken introduceert Buchbinder ook een sonate van Haydn, een componist die vaak overschaduwd wordt door zijn tijdgenoten maar wiens muziek evenzeer de moeite van het beluisteren waard is. De sonates in G majeur, Hob. XVI:8 en in C majeur, Hob. XVI:7, tonen Haydns meeslepende melodieën en levendige ritmes.
Dit album is een feest voor liefhebbers van klassieke muziek, met een mix van bekende en minder bekende werken die allemaal met grote meeslependheid worden uitgevoerd.
