With a background in music from the universities of Iowa and New Mexico, Schulkowsky has been an innovator and collaborator throughout her career. She moved to Germany during a vibrant period of experimental classical composition, where she continued to push the boundaries of percussion music. Known for her continuous exploration of new sonic dimensions, Schulkowsky has developed unique and unusual musical techniques, making her one of the most important percussionists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her work spans five continents, and she has collaborated with numerous artists, including Joey Baron and Kim Kashkashian.
