H.K. Gruber

HK Gruber is an Austrian composer, conductor, and chansonnier who defies easy categorization, blending neo-Romantic, neo-tonal, and neo-expressionist influences into his unique musical style. Born in Vienna in 1943, Gruber began his musical journey as a member of the renowned Vienna Boys' Choir. He later studied composition at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik. Gruber is perhaps best known for his celebrated work "Frankenstein!!," a "pan-demonium" for baritone chansonnier and orchestra that has captivated audiences worldwide with its entertaining and clever composition. Beyond his work as a composer, Gruber maintains an active career as a conductor, currently serving as Composer/Conductor with the BBC Philharmonic.
