Earl is an amazing musician with a sound all his own. This '84 album is packed with smooth and funky jazz tracks, featuring electric instruments in the lineup. His playing is top-notch, with a gorgeous nylon guitar tone. You'll find some fantastic guest spots, like Dave Sanborn, and the Don Sebesky Orchestra. The guitar lineup is stellar, with Joe Beck, Eric Gale, Carlos Rios, and Phil Upchurch, wow. Standout tracks include the title track, "Once Again", and "Right From the Start". While I love EK's solo work, I really get into it when he switches to bebop and starts playing those chromatic and linear lines. Out of all the EK records I own, this one has the best sound. The mix and pressing are clean, making for a truly enjoyable listen. 4 stars. Highly recommended.
