Walls is an absolutely stunning album. This is Barbra Streisand's powerful response to the oppressive Trump administration. The arrangements and production are phenomenal. Better Angels, inspired by Abraham Lincoln's words, is a highlight, along with Lady Liberty, Don't Lie To Me, and the incredible mashup of What a Wonderful World and Imagine by Louis Armstrong and John Lennon. Barbra's rendition of What The World Needs Now, originally a Dusty Springfield classic, is simply divine. Every track on this album is a gem, it's just breathtaking. *****
Dull, repetitive, forgettable and just plain average. Every track blends into the next. I've got a massive Barbara Streisand collection, with multiple versions of her albums. This one's got me stumped. I reckon she's started to buy into her own hype. It's all overdone, overcooked and everyone's trying to shove a political message down your throat. I'm not into vanity projects and never have been into politics. A word to Babs: "Keep it simple." Not every fan can drop $300 a seat and not everyone's interested in your political daydreams in la-la land.
This album might just be one of the most forgettable in music history. But hey, the pressing is super quiet.
a sterile masterpiece... it's like AI made it. If this was meant to be a sad political statement... my bad... then where's the heart, the story, the understanding of sadness? It's a dull, pointless waste of time and resources. Even as a dedicated collector, I don't even want this for my collection.
