Product Description

Immerse yourself in a captivating journey through the symphonic works of Vaughan Williams, Riegger, Hovhaness, and Creston, masterfully conducted by the legendary Leopold Stokowski. Released on April 26, 2019, under the Signum-Cala label, this classical album spans a concise yet impactful 72 minutes, offering a rich tapestry of compositions that showcase the depth and breadth of these esteemed composers.

The album opens with Ralph Vaughan Williams' monumental Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, a work that unfolds in four distinct movements, each revealing layers of emotional and musical complexity. Following this, you'll encounter the vibrant energy of "New Dance, Op. 18b," a lively interlude that contrasts beautifully with the symphonic grandeur.

The second half of the album is dedicated to the symphonic poetry of Bernard Riegger's "Mysterious Mountain," a three-movement work that evokes the majesty and mystery of nature. The album concludes with the dynamic "Toccata, Op. 68" by Paul Creston, a piece that leaves a lasting impression with its rhythmic drive and harmonic richness.

Leopold Stokowski, renowned for his innovative approach to conducting and his ability to draw out the most expressive performances from orchestras, brings these works to life with his signature passion and precision. Whether you're a seasoned classical enthusiast or a newcomer to the genre, this album promises a rewarding listening experience that highlights the timeless appeal of these symphonic masterpieces.
