Marian Hill's second album is a fantastic follow-up that builds on their distinctive sound, now with a more refined touch compared to their impressive debut, Act One, which had a rawer edge. The album's super smooth and minimal production pairs beautifully with the soft, breathy vocals. This particular copy of the album sounds incredible, with top-notch bass that really makes a difference. I didn't even clean mine, but it's almost completely free of surface noise, and cleaning it would probably make it even better. Surface noise wouldn't work well with this kind of music, given all the quiet or silent moments. Standout tracks include: Subtle Thing, Sideways, Wish You Would, Listening, and Go Quietly.
