Product Description

Burial's "Untrue," released on Hyperdub in 2007, is a groundbreaking album that masterfully blends IDM and ambient genres, creating a hauntingly beautiful soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive. Clocking in at just over 50 minutes, the album's 12 tracks weave together intricate beats, ghostly vocal samples, and atmospheric textures, crafting a sonic journey that is as immersive as it is evocative.

From the eerie, untitled opener to the melancholic beauty of "Archangel" and the pulsating rhythms of "Ghost Hardware," Burial's production is meticulous and rich in detail. Tracks like "Endorphin" and "Etched Headplate" showcase his ability to create intricate, glitchy beats that feel both mechanical and organic, while "In McDonalds" and "UK" offer glimpses into the urban landscapes that inspire his work.

The album's title track, "Untrue," is a standout, featuring haunting vocal samples that add a layer of emotional depth to the music. Songs like "Shell of Light" and "Dog Shelter" continue this theme, blending ethereal melodies with rhythmic complexity. The album closes with "Raver," a track that brings the journey full circle, leaving the listener with a sense of resolution and wonder.

Burial's "Untrue" is a testament to the power of electronic music to evoke emotion and create vivid, immersive worlds. It's an album that rewards repeated listens, revealing new layers and details with each playthrough. Whether you're a longtime fan of IDM and ambient music or a newcomer looking to explore these genres, "Untrue" is an essential listen that showcases Burial's unique vision and artistry.

  • Spotless Vinyl Elevates Untrue

    5 out of 5 stars
    Qufochg991111 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Truly spotless, almost perfect pressing (just a few ticks at the start of side c, unsure if that's intentional or not, didn't spot it on digital copies) — the see-through vinyl is gorgeous and plays like a dream. The mastering seems a tad warmer and more natural than the digital versions, adding a deep, emotional richness and making the atmospheric elements even more engrossing. Every pop, every little nuance comes alive, and the stereo image is remarkably wide. Might be partly down to my setup, but this pressing really takes Untrue to another level. A must-own for Burial enthusiasts and dedicated electronic vinyl collectors.

  • Electronic Album Falls Flat

    4 out of 5 stars
    Gjajs156 November 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

I'm gonna label this album as electronic, even if others might call it something different. It's just an okay album, not something that's going to revolutionize the electronic genre or anything. The beats are pretty basic and lack depth, and honestly, there isn't a single track that really stands out. Maybe the younger crowd, who've grown up on a diet of mediocre pop music, think this is "awesome" because they're too afraid to step out of their comfort zone and explore more innovative electronic music. It's an alright album, but definitely not the best produced one out there, whatever genre you want to call it. Time will tell if the artist has what it takes, though.

  • Hyperdub Delivers Awesome Reissue

Kudos to Hyperdub for delivering to Russia. Fantastic reissue, awesome tunes!

  • Life's Journey Soundtrack

    5 out of 5 stars
    yijezrpucvelseph4 October 2025United States🇺🇸

This album, to me, paints a vivid picture of a young person's journey through life. It's full of atmosphere, with moments that are dark and heavy, times that sting, and a sense of not knowing what's next. But throughout it all, there's love, hope, and dreams that keep you going. It's the ideal soundtrack for those chilly, rainy autumn evenings. So, grab your jacket, tighten up your laces, pop in your earbuds, and head out for a walk to feel the thrill of being alive!

  • Reissue Sounds Fantastic

    5 out of 5 stars
    Dxegkzum_TiyPuwa4 October 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm genuinely blown away by how fantastic this reissue sounds. I can't believe I've been making do with my 2007 original pressing, missing out on those damn ambient tracks all this time.

About Burial

Burial, the enigmatic alias of William Emmanuel Bevan, is a South London-based electronic musician who has carved a niche for himself in the global electronic music scene. Known for his reclusive nature, Burial's music is a mesmerizing blend of IDM and ambient, with influences from future garage, dubstep, 2-step garage, and jungle music. His unique sound has earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated following. Burial's work is not just music; it's an experience that transports listeners to the gritty streets of South London and beyond. Despite his fame, Burial remains true to his roots, preferring intimate club settings over large festivals and raves. His music, often introspective and atmospheric, offers a glimpse into the mind of one of electronic music's most intriguing artists.
