Product Description

UB40's debut album, "UB44," released on January 1, 1982, under Virgin Records, is a vibrant introduction to the band's unique blend of reggae sounds. Clocking in at a concise 40 minutes, this album packs a punch with its infectious rhythms and socially conscious lyrics. The tracklist kicks off with "So Here I Am" and includes notable remixes like "I Won't Close My Eyes" and "Love Is All Is Alright," showcasing the band's versatility and knack for catchy hooks. Standout tracks such as "The Piper Calls The Tune" and "The Key" delve into deeper themes, while "Don't Do The Crime" and "Politician" bring a more upbeat, danceable energy. UB40's distinctive sound and thoughtful lyricism make "UB44" a compelling listen for both reggae enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

This is a 1994 Special Edition released as a LP.

How do we keep reviews authentic?

Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

  • Disappointing Commercial Shift

This album was quite a disappointment following the outstanding 'Signing On' and 'Present Arms'/'Present Arms In Dub'...it definitely leans towards a more commercial sound.
