Product Description

Queensrÿche, the legendary progressive metal band, returns with their fifteenth studio album, "The Verdict," released on March 1, 2019, under Century Media. This powerful collection of tracks showcases the band's signature blend of progressive metal, glam metal, and hard rock, all packed into a concise 44-minute journey.

"The Verdict" opens with the intense "Blood of the Levant," setting the tone for the album's heavy and intricate soundscapes. The band's technical prowess is on full display in tracks like "Man the Machine" and "Light-years," where complex rhythms and soaring solos take center stage. Meanwhile, "Inside Out" and "Dark Reverie" offer a more introspective and melodic side of Queensrÿche, demonstrating their versatility and depth.

Lyrically, the album delves into themes of societal issues, personal struggles, and introspection. "Propaganda Fashion" and "Launder the Conscience" tackle the complexities of modern society, while "Inner Unrest" and "Portrait" explore personal turmoil and self-reflection. The closing track, "Portrait," leaves a lasting impression with its haunting melody and poignant lyrics.

With "The Verdict," Queensrÿche continues to push the boundaries of progressive metal, delivering an album that is both musically and lyrically rich. Fans of the band's earlier works will find much to appreciate, while newcomers will discover a band that remains at the forefront of the genre.

This LP was released in 2019.

  • Queensryche's Strong Return

    4 out of 5 stars
    Yubfin8 December 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Pretty good third album featuring Todd La TorreOut in 2019, THE VERDICT is Queensryche's fifteenth studio record (including their debut EP) and their third with vocalist Todd La Torre. Talking about Todd, he handles the drums on this record while Scott Rockenfield takes a break, and he does a commendable job. This is a strong album from start to finish, capturing the eerie atmosphere Queensryche is recognized for, with hardly any of the uninspired experimental pop rock that ex-singer Geoff Tate attempted to blend into their sound, like in HEAR IN THE NOW FRONTIER (1997) and DEDICATED TO CHAOS (2011). THE VERDICT combines Queensryche’s 80’s material with more recent works, such as AMERICAN SOLDIER (2009), but without that album’s dull elevator music acoustic tone (aside from that issue, AMERICAN SOLDIER is a respectable album).Tracks like “Inside Out” and “Dark Reverie” embody that dark, moody essence of “A Dead Man’s Words.” Notably, both “Dark Reverie” and the subsequent track, “Bent” share the same line: “We all fall down.” Regarding “Bent,” it’s one of the more striking songs. “Light Years” is another standout, incorporating some elements of early Warrior Soul, but within a Queensryche framework.Although THE VERDICT can’t match the self-titled debut (1983), THE WARNING (1984) or OPERATION MINDCRIME (1988), it surpasses OPERATION MINDCRIME II (2006) and is at least on par with AMERICAN SOLDIER. This is the type of music I expect from this band, not HEAR IN THE NOW FRONTIER and DEDICATED TO CHAOS. They just need to incorporate better hooks, like in their song “The Chase,” for instance. The ten tracks total 44 minutes.GRADE: B

Awesome album. It feels like the direction they should've gone after Promised Land. I'm really digging every track on side 2. The mastering is decent, but I did need to crank the volume more than I usually do, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

This album is fantastic. It's exactly the direction the band should've gone after Promised Land. I'm absolutely loving every track on side 2. The mastering is quite good, but I found myself needing to crank up the volume more than I usually do, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
