  • Top-Notch Mayall Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    dozoyabnfo4229 December 2025United States🇺🇸

The recording on this album is absolutely top-notch. The sound quality is as phenomenal as the musicianship, it's truly extraordinary. In my humble opinion, while all John Mayall albums are fantastic, this one is a must-have. It's an amazing album and the remastering is just gorgeous.

  • Early Monarch Pressing Impressive

    5 out of 5 stars
    pwmothukm9 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Difficult to make a bad choice with an early Monarch pressing. The sound quality is quite impressive, particularly when you consider it's a live recording. This marks another new era for Mayall's band. This time around, it's more acoustic and even features a flute in the mix.

  • Mayall's Folk-Jazz Venture

    3 out of 5 stars
    BjoulRvoav27 October 2025United States🇺🇸

On the liner notes at the back John Mayall describes this album as "...a new path in blues music." Initially, I was convinced by this statement when I purchased the vinyl back in the 70s. However, now in 2023, I feel that with this release, John ventured beyond blues, blending folk, folk jazz, folk rock, and jazz rock. It's certainly not blues-rock. If you're unsure, just give "Don't Pick A Flower" a listen. It's a pure romantic ballad. Ultimately, you realize that the album's title, "White Blues King," is a misleading marketing ploy aimed at white German club-goers. A more accurate title would have been "John Mayall and Johnny Almond, the Folk-Jazz Kings." That would have given Johnny Almond's jazz-influenced playing the recognition it deserves.

  • Lebanon or Germany?

    4 out of 5 stars
    nmuj.sowzix6 October 2025United States🇺🇸

The label on my version says "Made in Lebanon", yet everything else is in German. The catalog number is consistent across the board. Deutsche Gramophon is also noted on the label. Could this possibly be a bootleg copy?

  • Beat-Up, Amazing Performance Record

    4 out of 5 stars
    SutrimzVmqeiq25 June 2025United States🇺🇸

I've had my copy so much that it's all beat up, but it's an amazing record of a fantastic performance.
