In mono, this album is still fantastic. The band (and those ambient club noises) feel really close, like they're right there with you. The music and performance are absolutely top-tier. Highly recommend!
The Trio's take on "Chicago" is absolutely mind-blowing. Three musicians sounding like a full band, throwing in those killer sidebars and riffs that make this cover truly amazing. Gives me chills every single time.
Super lively and full of energy live performance, packed with vigor and hard work.
Incredible to hear this album. Such a fantastic jazz club vibe from the live show. Can't find words to describe this pressing
Here's a reissue of the '61 Oscar Peterson Trio's live performance at Chicago's London House. My dad saw this trio that year at that very spot and shared his experience with me. So, I tracked down this album to relive his moment. The recording is incredibly clear for a live set, with the instruments sounding rich and full. The first track really swings, but the standout is "Wee Small Hours Of The Morning," which is soft and sweet. "Chicago" and "Billy Boy" will get your heart racing...wow. Ray Brown shines on this one, his playing is spot on and really elevates the whole session. 4.5 stars for a gorgeous OP album.
