Despite their long history and only two original members left, this album is fantastic. The production isn't top-notch, and the autotune on Buck's voice feels out of place, but that doesn't stop these tracks from being amazing. "The Alchemist" is the standout, capturing the essence of BÖC perfectly. The band shows growth by letting different members take the lead vocals, and Richie knocks it out of the park. It's a refreshing and enjoyable album from a band that's been around for half a century.
This album feels like a triumphant return in numerous aspects, and I genuinely loved it. However, I'm afraid this might truly mark the conclusion of BOC's journey. There are some outstanding and even humorous tracks that make this a strong release, but a few of the more mundane moments can disrupt the flow. "Edge of the World" and "Secret Road" are definitely among their finest works.
Wow, what a wake-up call! This album is a true successor to their earlier works. Richie Castellano, who penned many of these fresh tracks, has captured the essence of the band's iconic early compositions. Just check out 'The Alchemist,' it's like a nod to 'Astronomy.' Without a doubt, one of the year's finest albums. And when you're done with the last song, don't hesitate to spin the first track all over again!
The album comes in a shiny, gatefold cover with white paper sleeves and no digital download option. There's a cool holographic sticker right on the back cover, just like in the release pictures. The music is fantastic, with some amazing tracks and performances. "Nightmare Epiphany" has an awesome extended jam section that's worth checking out again and again. "The Return Of St. Cecilia" kicks things off with a bang, it's a solid, driving rock song that really hits the spot. The pressing is decent, no issues here. It's not an audiophile release or anything, but the sound is good. I grabbed it for $20AUD on Amazon and was more than happy with that price.
Amazing tunes, terrible LP quality or pressing...
